بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَۚ
1. Read with (mention) the name of your Lord who created,
Recite in the name of your Lord who created –
خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍۚ
2. He created man from a clot of blood.
Created man from a clinging substance.
اِقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْاَكْرَمُۙ
3. Read, and your God is the most glorious,
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous
الَّذِيْ عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِۙ
4. Who teaches (humans) with a pen.
Who taught by the pen –
عَلَّمَ الْاِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْۗ
5. He teaches man what he does not know.
Taught man that which he knew not.
كَلَّآ اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغٰىٓ ۙ
6. Of course not! Really, that human really transgressed,
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
انْ رَّاٰهُ اسْتَغْنٰىۗ
7. when he saw himself completely enough.
Because he sees himself self-sufficient.
اِنَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعٰىۗ –
8. Really, only to God is your return.
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
اَرَاَيْتَ الَّذِيْ يَنْهٰىۙ
9. What do you think about the person who banned?
Have you seen the one who forbids
عَبْدًا اِذَا صَلّٰىۗ
10.a servant when he is praying,
A servant when he prays?
اَرَاَيْتَ اِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدٰىٓۙ
11. what do you think if he (who is prohibited from praying) is above the truth (guidance),
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
اوْ اَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوٰىۗ
12. or did he order to fear (to Allah)?
Or enjoins righteousness?
ارَاَيْتَ اِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىۗ
13. What do you think if he (who forbids) it denies and turns away?
Have you seen if he denies and turns away –
الَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَرٰىۗ
14. Doesn’t he know that Allah sees (all his actions)?
Does he not know that Allah sees?
كَلَّا لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهِ ەۙ لَنَسْفَعًاۢ بِالنَّاصِيَةِۙ
15. Of course not! Indeed, if he does not stop (doing so) surely We will pull his head, (into hell),
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock –
نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۚ
16. namely) the crown of the person who denies and is disobedient.
A lying, sinning forelock.
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهٗۙ
17. So let him call his group (to help him),
Then let him call his associates;
سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَۙ
18. Later We will call the Angel Zabaniyah, (the tormentor of sinners),
We will call the angels of Hell.
كَلَّاۗ لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ ࣖ
19. Absolutely not! Do not obey him; and bow down and bring (yourself to Allah).
No! Don’t obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
